Your computer need s a network port, otherwise known as an Ethernet port, LAN (Local Area Network) or RJ45 port. If you are using a wireless router, you do not need a network port.
The port looks like a standard American phone jack, only slightly wider. Most computers have a standard American phone jack for the modem, this port is not interchangeable. You need to have a different port that’s a bit wider than that.
With a standard wired router, you cannot connect your computer to the internet without a network port. You need to buy a Network card.
